“Journey to the West” is but one of an array of significantly successful Chinese television series that Qian Jun—half of China’s most renowned television and feature-film marketing and branding team—has helped bring to viewers numbering in the tens of millions. And now, with the formation of the AATFA, Mr. Qian is embarking upon his own journey to the west, seeking by means of his collaboration with a cross-cultural grouping of business and creative professionals to produce scripted programming with international resources and personnel and the promise of international appeal.
Since the 1990s, Mr. Qian successfully promoted some of his country’s best and most classic films and TV series. To name a few: “The Mobile Phone,” “A World Without Thieves,” the aforementioned “Journey to the West,” “My Love from the Star,” “Diamond Lovers,” and “A Bite of China”—each of which has registered prodigious ratings while generating both notoriety and popularity nationwide.
While serving as the President of the Beijing-based communications group JUNHE Media, Mr. Qian and his team have garnered more than 180 major industry awards, both domestically and internationally. Qian also holds senior positions at “China’s TV Art Committee” and “China’s Television Production Committee,” in addition to his duties as Deputy Chairman of the “Asian American TV & Film Alliance.”
